About Me

Welcome!
I’m Janine Asante – therapist, coach, photographer, dancer, drummer, nature lover, animal rescuer and avid horsewoman. My heart sings when I witness all of mother earth’s children interacting, living in harmony and being part of the web of life to which we are all connected.

I feel most alive when I wake up every day knowing that I can make a difference in the world and that my deep connections bring me comfort, joy and a sense of belonging. To people, to animals, to the natural world around me. I love seeing my clients grow, transform and flourish so they too can feel deeply connected in life, not just with others but with themselves while learning to trust their inner wisdom.

We are all born to connect, learn, grow, experience deep emotions and real joy, fall passionately in love, find meaningful and purposeful ways to contribute to society and to thrive while doing it. My goal is for you to experience the awesomeness of feeling fully alive as well.

To stand in your own power.

In order to thrive it’s essential to feel that spark that joins our hearts and to find ways to enrich each others lives. My goal is to help my clients reconnect, heal, and find true meaning and joy in their lives so they too can thrive.

It saddens me to see all the dysfunction, sorrow, disease and hurt in the world and so I was drawn to try to bring comfort, healing and peace to people struggling to cope with life’s hardships. I became a therapist because I wanted to offer some hope and a lifeline to help lift people out of despair so they could realize that life in all its glory could be worth living.

And living well.

A little about me-

My life has taken a long and circuituos path to where I am today. From a painfully shy, introverted brainy kid to an outspoken, free spirited and engaged adult, I have had many defining moments that have informed my perception of the world and of those around me. I did the academia route from private schools to several universities in 3 countries: latin scholar, french proficency diploma, pre-med studies, liberal arts degree and finally a Masters in Psychology. After my education I still felt called to satisfy my Piscean soul for creativity and adventure, I was compelled to experience more of the world. Job titles I have held: Nutritionist, Bookeeper, Tax preparer, Professional photographer, French teacher, filmmaker, Sunday school teacher, Veterinary technician, Zoological lab technician, Ornithologist Research assistant, Zoo Keeper Aide and Wildlife Rehabilitator. I am grateful for having exposed myself to such a variety of professional settings. Having worked with and interacted with people from the corporate world, artists, activists and academic minds as well as families of all types, I have a unique advantage to be able to understand and relate to a wide variety of people and their cultures. When I finally went back to grad school later in life, I had decided that I was keenly aware that many people suffered emotionally and I wanted to be a part of helping people heal and feel empowered to live authentic and passionate lives. I would be honored to be of assistance to you in your healing journey and the discovery of your unique and significant place in this world. I feel everyone has a special awesomeness that is so inherently needed during these times. Isn't it time for you to show up and be awesome? Together we can make this happen!

As a therapist I love witnessing the amazing transformation that is possible when you realize that you are worthy,  you are powerful and you can show up and be awesome.
The world needs you!

I know that often we learn early in life that we are not enough, or that our voices don’t matter. Some of us have had extremely challenging beginnings that have set us on a path of distrust and hopelessness. We have been led to believe falsehoods and have to fight hard to overcome these imposed “inadequacies”. But these are myths and it’s time to rewrite your story. To leave the past in the past and step into a bright unencumbered future. To know your self worth.

You are not alone. There is hope.

I help my clients to know that they are seen, heard, understood and that they matter. That I can be that support, witness and guide, to help them through the tough stuff so they can let go of what’s holding them back from embracing life and realizing their full potential.

I feel blessed that my clients ask me to go along on this healing journey and I don’t take my role lightly. It’s an honour and privilege to be the one to hear your stories, your confidences, your fears, your achievements and your passions. To see you revel in your truth, your authentic self, your successes means a lot to me.

You are worthy. Please don’t forget that.

And I will be the one holding up the hope for you when you feel desperate or there’s no point or it’s too hard. I hold that light for you so that eventually you will be able to hold the light yourself and through your strength and determination become that beacon of light for others.

The things that touch my soul are my relationships with loved ones and my circle of friends, colleagues and clients, witnessing the creativity and possibilities that lie within each of us. Without deep connection and a sense of purpose life becomes tedious and empty. In my practice I offer ways to reconnect to yourself, your life purpose and to others so you can change your life for the better. Together we will cast out the fears, the sorrows, the hurts, the regrets and the mishaps, so you can emerge lighter and brighter, forging your future for you, creating a new way of being in the world, integrated, whole and healed.

Your dreams. Your story.

I feel that as a therapist if I can assist my clients to move beyond their limiting beliefs so they can grow into confident, insightful, authentic and passionate creators of their own destiny, then I have answered my calling. I would love to be entrusted with your story and have the opportunity to accompany you on your healing journey.

The world needs your unique and significant talents. Isn’t it time to show up in your inherent worthiness and be awesome?

Together we can make his happen!
